Is the Shadow of Kristallnacht Looming Over Jews Again?

night of broken glass

Seventy-five years ago on November 9-10, 1938, an unprecedented event occurred throughout Nazi Germany and parts of Austria and Czechoslovakia. It continues to be remembered as Kristallnacht or "the Night of Broken Glass". Read More

The Many Faces of Anti-Israelism are Just a Mask for Antisemitism!

Psalm 83

On October 21, 2013, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) published a new report titled: The Top Ten anti-Israel Groups in the US, in which it identified the most virulent of antisemitic organizations in America. While I do not always endorse the ADL's methods and/or tone in their reporting, or even some of their conclusions, I do find their research always very useful. Read More

The Vital Legacy of ‘Righteous Gentiles’

Olivier Melnick tells of non-Jews who saved his mother in WWII France

After the end of World War II, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower visited a concentration camp, and what he saw there was so unbearable it prompted him to document it as thoroughly as he could. He wrote in a letter to George Marshall:

“But the most interesting – although horrible – sight that I encountered during the trip was a visit to a German internment camp near Gotha. The things I saw beggar description. While I was touring the camp I encountered three men who had been inmates and by one ruse or another had made their escape. I interviewed them through an interpreter. The visual evidence and the verbal testimony of starvation, cruelty, and bestiality were so overpowering as to leave me a bit sick. Read More

Righteous Chutzpah at JFK!

Saudi Airlines No Jews

It was only 73 years ago that my Jewish mother was asked to wear a yellow star on her clothes and was forced to stand in the last car of the Paris Metro train with the other "Jews".

It was about 50 years ago when African-Americans were forced to sit at the back of the bus, drink at "colored people" water fountains or use different entrances to public places.

Thank God that we live in the "wonderful" post-modern age of tolerance when human beings are all equal under God or "mother nature" (I can't leave out atheists lest I am accused of the same crime I am about to expose). For me, it is clear that our equality (under God) is a given and should dictate our behavior as we interact with others regardless of race, creed, sex and/or origins.

So we are all equals, right? Absolutely! Read More

Is There Another Holocaust Coming?

Pleading with Israel

I am always extremely hesitant to use the term "Holocaust" to describe anything other than the events that took place in Nazi-occupied Europe in the 1940s. The gruesome horror of the Shoah (Hebrew word for the Holocaust meaning "the Catastrophe"), places it in a league of its own in the annals of human depravity and ethnic cleansing. This is of course not meant in any way to minimize any other genocide, but simply to recognize the unique place held by the Holocaust.

This catastrophe could be summarized as "the systematic attempt at the complete destruction of European Jewry" and even though the words "Shoah" and "Holocaust" have become somewhat taboo within most civilized circles, various components from the events that these two words describe remain a threat to my people worldwide.
